The capital of the Ladakh district, Leh is towards the eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir. It is perched at a height of 3,505 m above sea level. Lapped in the snow covered fringes of the Himalayas, Leh, India has been the center of Tibeto- Buddhist culture since ages. Its colorful Gompas have attracted the devout Buddhists from all over the globe. Besides, it is also a favourite hiking locale and is known for some of the best hikes in India.

Day 1

Arrival in Leh

Upon your arrival at Leh airport, you will meet our representative/driver at the airport who will take you to your pre-booked hotel. Day is at leisure. In the evening visit Leh market & Shanti Stupa. Overnight stay at the hotel

Day 2


After breakfast, we proceed for the Indus Valley monastery tour including Shey, the ancient capital of Ladakh, Thiksey an impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village and Stok Palace the present residence of the royal family. Later, enjoy the views at Sindhu Ghat. Return to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 3

Leh – Nubra Valley (130 Kms / 4 to 5 hour’s drive)

After breakfast, drive to Nubra valley in the morning, driving over the highest motored pass in the world. The exciting journey through the serpentine roads leads us to the Khardungla Pass at an awesome height of 5550 meters. We stop at the pass to admire and click some photographs of the fantastic view, before driving down into the Nubra valley. The valley is situated on an old caravan route at the confluence of the Shayok and the Nubra rivers. We drive to our fixed camp and later drive to visit the charming valley, of Deskit – the tiny capital of Nubra. The capital is marked by a single file of shops that are put up on the main road. Visit the Deskit Gompa, perched on a rocky spur above the village, with a commanding view of the entire valley. From Deskit we will drive to Hunder past an area of sand dunes and get acquainted with the famous Bactrian camels. This small population of shaggy double-humped animals, which in the old days, were used as pack animals on the Central Asian trade routes are now used as riding animals in the high deserts. Return to camp for overnight stay.

Day 4

Nubra Valley - Leh (130 Kms / 4 to 5 hour’s drive)

After breakfast at the camp, visit the Diskit monastery and the sand dunes to enjoy a camel safari (optional). Later we drive to Leh over Khardung La. Rest of the day is at leisure or take a walk to the local market. Return to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 5

Leh - Excursion to Pangong Lake (290 kms / 10 hrs)

After an early breakfast, enjoy an excursion tour of Pangong lake through changla pass 5486 mtrs. Pangong Lake, situated at 14,000 feet (4,267 m) is a long narrow basin of inland drainage, hardly six to seven kilometer at its widest point and over 130 km in length, it is bisected by the international border between India and China. Later, drive back to hotel in Leh. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 6

Leh - Sham Valley Tour

After breakfast, drive on the Srinagar highway and visit the hall of fame - Museum constructed by the Indian army, Gurudwara Patthar Sahib nestled deep in the Himalayas, which was built by the lamas of Leh in 1517 to commemorate the visit of Guru Nanak Dev. Later we experience the magnetic hill which defies the law of gravity. We stop at the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers. Return to Leh hotel for overnight stay.

Day 7

Departure from Leh

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Leh airport for your onward journey.

Important Information

  • Rates are valid for Indian nationals only
  • Hotels / Camps provide hot water from 6­- 8 AM and 6- ­8 PM only
  • Leh and remote areas have regular power outages. Don’t expect  24hrs electricity
  • People from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, China, Myanmar and Bhutan cannot travel to restricted areas outside Leh such as Nubra Valley, Pangong, and Tsomoriri etc. Nationals of countries other than these can travel to Ladakh provided they don’t have a Diplomatic passport.
  • If a vehicle is used for shopping, visiting markets and restaurants, then there will be extra charges
  • It is mandatory for all guests carry valid photo IDs (Passport/Driving License/Voter ID Card). PAN Card is not accepted at many places as a valid photo ID.
  • Connectivity (phone as well as internet) is poor and unreliable in Ladakh. Most hotels will not have a Wi-Fi connection
  • Airline seats and hotel rooms are subject to availability at the time of booking
  • Only vegetarian meals are served at Nubra. Non-vegetarian meals are served at Leh in Dinner
  • All booking vouchers and tickets will be provided 3 days before departure
  • Extra Adult or Child with bed cost is INR 30999. Child without bed cost is INR 28999.

  • Per person prices are quoted on twin share basis ( 2 person sharing a room).
  • A maximum of 3 adults are allowed in one room
  • The third occupant of the room shall be provided a mattress/roll away bed.
  • In case of unavailability in the listed hotels, arrangement for an alternate accommodation will be made in a hotel of similar standard.
  • Big Breaks reserves the right to modify the itinerary at any point, due to reasons including but not limited to: Force Majeure events, strikes, fairs, festivals, weather conditions, traffic problems, overbooking of hotels / flights, cancellation / rerouting of flights, closure of / entry restrictions at a place of visit, etc. While we will do our best to make suitable alternate arrangements, we would not be held liable for any refunds/compensation claims arising out of this.
